Leon John Davidson of Atkinson, New Hampshire died on September 25 at The Village, White River Junction, VT of natural causes.
John was from Andover, Massachusetts, the son of Leon Davidson (Dagdigian) and Agnes Ohanian. He attended Phillips Andover Academy (1949) and Harvard University (1953). Directly after attending college, he served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1956.
After the service John joined the family clothing business, The Andover Shop in Andover, MA. Interested in Real Estate years later, John established a company called Danton Realty Trust with Phidias Dantos, together they sold property to Raytheon Technologies Corporation and remodeled many buildings on Main and Essex Streets in Andover.
In 1969, John became the visionary and co-founder of Quechee Lakes in Quechee, VT. His partner and longtime friend, Louis Kane, together recruited others to join the mission of a planned community. Taking great pride in the beautiful landscape and one of the best golf experiences in the Northeast. John later moved to Provincetown, MA to develop a timeshare community called the Sand Castle. Directly afterward he refurbished The Lookout Resort, Ogunquit, ME an old hotel into condominiums. In the mid-1980s he was recruited to help a struggling development at South Down Shores and Long Bay, Laconia, NH. He created a positive economic impact for so many communities across New England.
John was always seeking new adventures: searching for gold and silver in Mexico, finding treasure ships, and recovering one in Lewes, DE the HMS DeBraak. In the last 20 years, John created many new patents for healthy food and to make the environment cleaner and safer.
John dearly valued his family and friends. He was deeply engaged and proud of his Armenian heritage. He enjoyed hosting many social events, always with a delicious menu. Music was a great delight as his favorites were Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Ela Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, and so many others. He loved to have a great laugh and shared so many remarkable stories. His adventures seemed out of a storybook, and each story had a new twist. John had a remarkable memory and history was his favorite subject.
His parents predeceased John and his siblings: Dorothy Marson; Charles Davidson; and Rosemary Flynn; daughters: Linda Davidson; Sara Garcia; Jenny Bartholdi and stepson; Andrew Lorin.
He is survived by his partner and best friend of thirty-four years Linda Roberts, daughter Mary Davidson Graham (James Graham), Linda’s son David Roberts, stepdaughter Jennifer MacMillen, grandchildren Christopher Newcomb, Andrew Garcia (Jennifer), and Katherine Salinas (Ricardo), five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and dear friends, Rita Parent, Mary Lou John, Eilleen Ferraro, and Mike Wagner.
